The novel Let The Great World Spin is revolved around how this is one small world. It shows how one person is linked to another and it goes on like a chain reaction. In some form or another we all know each other in this world, counties, states, and cities. In this novel, all the characters are drawn so close to one another without them even realizing it. The web that holds them together is New York, Judge Soderberg and the tightrope walker. This novel has two important characters that begin the connection to the rest of the other characters. The first one is Judge Soderberg, he is the judge that reviews the cases of the prostitutes Jazzyln and Tillie and as well as the tight rope walkers case. The prostitutes involve a man named Corrigan who looks after them a lot. He has an older brother named Ciaran and he begins to like a woman named Lara who was involved in the cause of Corrigan and Jazzys death. This story is mostly about her being in a woman’s group for those who have lost their sons in the war. Through out her story Mr. Soderberg is mentioned a few times. He is the key that begins the connection between all these characters. A woman named Marcia that’s attending the group is one of the witnesses of the tightrope walker. She comes into the room gasping for air. Marica then admits to what she saw. â€Å"It’s a guy, says Marcia, on a tightrope. I mean, I didn’t know it right away, I didn’t figure it out just like that, but what it is, there’s a guy on a tightrope. † (Pg. 94) Gloria, the woman that was helping Marcia to calm down adopted Jazzlyn’s children, which were Tillie’s grandbabies. Each story in this novel takes place in New York especially in the of Bronx. Through out this whole book, the only characters that are not really involved in any other characters life would be the story of Etherwest which is about the hackers and Tag, the story about the boy who is a photographer. Etherwest not only takes place in New York but also in California. All the hackers involved in the prank phone call to the payphone in New York are from an institute found in California. -People! he says again. I got this nutjob here. Guy from California. Go figure. Hey. You there? (Pg 108) The Hackers are not connected to any of the other characters expect the tightrope walker. They make no effect onto the other characters lives as well as in the story Tag. The young photographer never comes across any of the characters pathways. The only thing that connects him is the tightrope walker. He was one of the photographers who was able to capture a picture of the man on the tightrope which he turned into the Newspaper. That is how most of them come around and connect to the tightrope walker. This novel shows a great significance and represents that this is a genuine reflection of life. If our choices in anyway, shape or form cause deliberate hurt to another, we either make a different choice or choose to deal with the consequences. The majority of the characters in this novel took an effect onto all of them. In most cases they were negative consequences that were put upon their lives. The choices that each of them made started that chain reaction that reached out and grabbed someone elses life. It began with one and took its toll on from there. This novel made me believe how one little action that I decide to make can make a huge impact on someone else life. It starts to branch off like a tree and it continues to grow more and more. In my opinion I feel that the phone phreakers continued their prank callings to many places. I feel that they especially continued calling the white house and told them a lot of ridiculous things. The people started to get really upset and fed up with them and so the white house hired a really good police crew to track them down. When the police try to track them down it becomes nearly impossible to find them. I feel that they tell each other all these threats and at one point the police manage to find them. I think that Sam, the youngest hacker ends up leaving them because he didnt want to be involved with them anymore. I fell that he was really so in love with the woman on the phone from New York. I feel that he was a really good hacker that with all information he obtained about her he was able to track her phone number and called her back. She never became bothered by him calling her so often. They continued their long distance friendship for a while and decided that they should meet up. When that day came they both realized how right they felt with each other and decide to get married and live their happy lives. On the other hand, I feel that the hackers got captured and were sent to prison and got pressed a lot of charges and were imprisoned for life.
